Endometriosis treatment in Dubai
What is endometriosis?
Endometriosis is a chronic painful condition in which tissue similar to the lining of your uterus, called endometrium, starts growing outside your uterine cavity. It spreads to the ovaries, fallopian tube, pelvic tissue, and in rare cases, beyond the pelvic region. Endometriosis causes inflammation and adhesion in the affected area and often leads to painful menstruation and fertility issues.

What are the causes of endometriosis?
The exact cause of endometriosis is unknown, yet many theories tried to explain it, e.g., “reverse” or “retrograde” menstruation, which occurs when the menstrual blood flows back into the pelvic cavity via fallopian tubes instead.
What are the symptoms of endometriosis?
The symptoms of endometriosis are as follows:
- Very painful cramps and heavy bleeding during periods
- Painful bowel movement
- Blood in your stool or urine
- Pain during sexual intercourse
- Infertility (difficulty becoming pregnant)
- Diarrhea or constipation
- Fatigue that won’t go away
- Bloating and nausea

Treatment
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and over-the-counter pain relief medications are sometimes prescribed for endometriosis pain relief. But these medications aren’t always effective, and symptoms may come back when you stop taking them.
Hormone therapy helps relieve the painful symptoms of endometriosis by regulating the monthly hormonal changes that promote tissue growth. Taking hormonal supplements and contraceptives can also prevent the build-up of endometrial-like tissue and stop the progression of endometriosis.
Surgery
Conservative surgeries are recommended when medicines or hormonal therapies don’t work. These aim to remove abnormal endometrial growths without damaging any reproductive organs.
Hysterectomy is the last resort which is recommended only if the patient doesn’t get better with other treatments. It involves surgical removal of the uterus, cervix, and ovaries to stop estrogen hormone production, which causes the growth of endometrial-like tissues.
